Line Brøgger
started on the Danish Pentecostal Bible College (DBPC), because
she wanted to develop personally and spiritually. And she was not
disappointed. Actually, she is taking a year more than initially
planned, while she is at it.
- I longed for a personal development. To mature and work with my
character in a
Christian environment. Experience a spiritual development. 21-year-old
Line Brøgger is Stream 1 student at DPBC and enrolled on the school
primarily because she had
heard many good things about the teaching.
- I hoped it would give me a foundation
and a ballast for the rest of my life. I planned to spend a year immersing
myself in my faith, become entrenched in it and find out who I am in the process,
she explains.
New angles on things
Line went directly on DPBC after completing secondary school, and after
almost an entire school year in Mariager she has not been disappointed.
- First year up here is very foundational, while the second year is more theological
and leadership oriented. There have been issues I have had a reasonable
knowledge of before, but I have both got some new angles on things, and
secondly I've heard it in another way. But there have also been many things, I
have not heard anything about before and I've learned a lot of new stuff. There has been a
good balance between a deeper knowledge of something recognizable and something
new, she say.
- Especially, I have been pleased with the subject Foundation of faith with
Anders Ova. But Simon Linde's teaching on the Sermon on the Mount was really
inspiring - very contemporary and placed in an appropriate context. Apologetics
has also been good - especially around the creation and evolution, where the
Christian view of humanity has spoken to me. Finally, the Gospel of John has been both
exciting and relevant education, she declares.
A colourful crowd
Line Brøgger took 10th class on Mariager Efterskole and knows DPBC from
that time. Yet she did not have a very clear picture of what really waited her as a
pupil at the college.
- Initially I was very surprised by the student crowd. I do not really know what
I had expected - but maybe a little a la kids school. But there are
many agegroups here, and the community is very diverse with many different
nationalities and religious backgrounds. The tone is different and the
community is much more mature than a school. And it surprised me positively. It's
been exciting but also challenging and really rewarding.
For Line is the best thing about staying at DPBC is her personal and
spiritual development.
- The environment itself promotes such development. There are many factors in
this - teaching sessions - yes, the whole atmosphere. The social environment is
also something special. I've had several good friends here, and you get really
close, she smiles.
Passion for children
Line is now taking another year on DPBC, but she has a loose plan later to study as a teacher.
- I am passionate about teaching and her passion for children and teenagers. It
makes sense to me, because I think I can influence
children at an incredibly healthy way; you can get permission to be something
for children.
- I also appreciate how much teachers has meant to myself, and the role model that you are
allowed to be because of the job appeals to me greatly. Not only in relation
to education and the profession, but as much in relation to the personal
relationship with students, she explains, adding that although she does not
think it is best that an increasing part of the upbringing is going on in the schools, it does give some possibilities:
- As a teacher you get even greater influence on the students - you can really change something for children, she says
